Inspiration For My Quilt

I have always loved roses. While going through a difficult health issue, I decided to create an "Inspiration Quilt". I chose roses as the theme.

I took photos of the beautiful roses blooming in my front garden, and used them to create outlines to use as appliques.

I referred to the following roses for the creation of my four rose appliques.

Supplies Needed

Applique Pressing Sheet
Fabric - scraps in colors for your roses
Fusible Web
Decorative thread - optional (highlight your roses by adding beautiful machine stitching)

Applique Instructions

First, you need to create each rose (or rose of your choice). Each rose is pieced, using a pressing sheet. The applique sheet allows you to create intricate applique quickly and easily. For each rose, number the pieces in the order you will be placing them onto the sheet (review our lesson in the link below). Create one rose at a time. Trace individual rose pattern pieces. Remember to extend the edges of pieces that overlap with other pieces.

Once the entire rose is created, it can be lifted off the sheet and placed onto a quilt block, tote bag, pillow front, clothing, or any of several other types of surfaces.
