10" Quilt Block BibThis beautiful apron uses one 8" quilt block plus border, which makes up the bib. The finished block, including a 1" border all the way around, measures 10" x 10". You could substitute any quilt block/border to create an overall size of 10". What a fun way to use a quilt block! The towel offers a convenient feature for the apron, as does the pocket. This pattern has been on our website for almost 15 years. It was one of the first patterns posted. It is a favorite among our visitors. NOTE: I made my border .5", so my overall quilt block size is 9". After the apron was finished, I decided that the quilt block should have been a full 10" so this tutorial has been adjusted. Don't miss our Free Quilt Lessons. It covers basic quilt techniques as well as creating points (sewing triangles). |
Apron SizeThis apron pattern is size small adult (waist no more than 30"). The size can easily be adjusted by adding to length of skirt, width of skirt, adding a larger quilt block for the bib, etc. Also seeĀ Quilt Block Apron In Child Size The finished quilt block (including the border) measures 10" square. You can use any 8", 9" or 10" block, and you can add borders as needed. The skirt measures 15" across the top (front half of waist). My skirt has a length of 24". Adjust the size by changing the length or width of the skirt, and/or changing the quilt block size. |

Cutting ToolsI recommend using a Rotary Cutter, Cutting Mat and Sewing Ruler. I use these tools for most projects. They allow for easy, precise cutting. Visit my Amazon store page to purchase these tools, fusible fleece, insul-bright, heat resistant cloth, quilting pins, and other items I use in my projects. |
DirectionsPlease Note: these diagrams are not exactly to scale, but the pieces do fit as shown. 1. Cut Fabric PiecesCut fabric pieces directly from fabric (using a large sewing ruler and rotary cutter is easiest) OR create paper pattern pieces. I use butcher paper. I buy a large roll, then use it to create all of my patterns.
