Why I Wrote This Book

Does your job satisfy your soul, or just your bank account - or perhaps neither? Whether your desire is to sew or craft or use another talent, you can be successful. Risky? It can be, but through business knowledge you can reduce the risks. Read this book from start to finish and you will be well on your way to fulfilling your dreams. 

I have been in the business world for several decades, and my education was in economics and accounting. I also am a creator, with a love of sewing, crafts and painting. Another love of mine is teaching. I have taught business concepts to fellow employees and business clients, and I have taught sewing, crafting and painting.

I love to see people succeed, and I am fortunate to be able to bring my skills in business, art and teaching together. I pass on my knowledge through this website, as well as my youtube channel (see link below).

My hope is that, if you are interested in turning your art into a business, this free online business book will be helpful to you.

YES YOU CAN! You can successfully run your own craft, art, or sewing business. To do so, however, you must have a good understanding of the business world. Why do businesses succeed? Why do they fail?

The contents of this book are taken mainly from a document I originally wrote under "Spectrum Accounting", a consulting business specializing in small businesses. I set up the accounting system, policies and procedures, and taught the business owners and managers how to successfully extract accurate and timely financial information in order to make sound management decisions.

I hope to accomplish several things with this book. First, I hope to take the mystery out of running a small business and show that, contrary to what you have probably been told, YOU CAN DO IT! By using this book as a guide, you will be able to set up an efficient business right from the start. Don't be fooled by larger, fancy looking businesses. If you follow this book, you will be ahead of a great number of them. From home businesses to fancy salons and retail stores, I have seen the same errors. No one is above the mistakes I will teach you how to avoid in this book. Be positive, stay focused, succeed!
