Assemble rows as shown below. Then stitch the rows together to create the quilt. Add a 2" border all the way around the perimeter (cut the fabric strips 2.5" wide).

Assemble the 9 squares of the center square as shown in the illustration. Stitch together in groups of three (for a row); then stitch the three rows together.

Assemble side borders as shown. Attach a border to each side of the center square.

Assemble top and bottom borders as shown. Stitch the the top and bottom borders to the center piece.

Assemble outer side borders as shown. Stitch the borders to the center piece.

Assemble outer top & bottom borders as shown. Stitch the borders to the center piece.

Cut two strips of black fabric, each measuring 28.5" x 2.5". Stitch to each side of the main quilt piece.

Cut two strips of black fabric, each measuring 32.5" x 2.5". Stitch to the top and bottom of the main quilt piece.
